From our President:

A YEAR TO FORGET

This has been a very difficult year with the Pandemic, and I am sure one we would all like to forget. From having to quarantine to not being able to find needed items in our stores (like toilet paper, Lysol, etc.) to the kids staying home or one not being able to work.

Life at Royal Park also had problems. Following CDC and State guidelines we had to close the pools and clubhouse. As soon as we could, the pools were opened as well as the clubhouse on a limited basis. The showers, steam rooms and saunas must remain closed.

Please follow the association’s rules as well as the new CDC’s guidelines to protect your neighbors and the increasing value of your property.

From our Property Manager:

All residences walking their dogs in Royal Park need to have a leash no longer than 6 feet. Please, if you see anything suspicious call 911 ASAP. Excuse the catwalks as we are now painting them and will continue until they are all done. Has anyone noticed the new BBQ grills, tables, and garbage bins? If anyone has a 2020 sticker, please come into the office, and update your car or it will be towed away.

It has been reported that there is illegal dumping going on from people who do not live here at Royal Park or people telling the guard station that they are here to pay their maintenance and get their 2021 decal.

If you see any cars, trucks or vans with NO sticker or a green/purple RP decal and they are dumping at the bulk trash area, please get their license plate and call 911 immediately.

Also, ALL trucks, large SUV’s need to park in the truck section of your parking lot, not in the designated white parking spaces which are for cars and small SUVs only. REMEMBER, only ONEdesignated spot per unit. If there is no 2021 decal on your vehicle or a parking pass on your dashboard visible for security to see, you WILL be towed at your expense. Also, there is NO parking of trailers overnight in our complex. This is nothing new, please read your Rules & Regulations and By-laws.

From the Treasurer:

People, please pick up after your dog and do not litter. I am seeing a lot of masks and rubber gloves thrown on the ground. We are working on putting a shuffleboard court in by the south pool. Maintenance dues were due on April 1st.

Grounds and Building committee:

As many of you know by my resume and our “meet and greet” evening, my passion here at Royal Park is to find ways we can improve our living environment by maintaining our beautiful
grounds and buildings in small and perhaps big ways. All of this on a tight budget. We have managed to address some issues and make some changes. Andrew Wilkinson and Brian Smith have been a great help in doing surveys of the property, and we came across an area behind Building 119 that sorely needed attention. Not only aesthetically but was prime for intruders to our property. A thorough clean-up was performed of invasive plants, tree saplings and underbrush. Drainage issues have been addressed with several tons of gravel having been spread over weed block material and we are waiting for estimates to complete a stockade fence extending from the existing white PVC privacy fence that borders our pool area and will extend to the canal to secure our property by keeping intruders out.

I am also hoping that many of you folks have had the opportunity to notice our new picnic tables. Six new tables were purchased and several of our existing tables were refurbished to accept an opaque stain-sealer that we applied on the six new tables now on the property. We also have several new grilles with covers at the central picnic area, and the concrete patio has had concrete repairs done and a fresh coat of paint. We also now have new plastic garbage cans at the picnic areas with lids, looking much improved rather than the garbage cans that were tied to trees with bungee cords! Hopefully, this will deter “critters” from getting a hold of picnic refuse.

Our shuffleboard area is under way with repairs and paint and should be up and ready for gaming soon. Please do not allow children to draw on the shuffleboard areas with chalk. Our next project is slated to start early summer, and we will be tackling the men’s gym. We will be replacing the floor, removing the pop-corn ceiling, hopefully adding some new lightings, a new treadmill, and a new coat of paint…so we are making changes for the better, slowly but surely. We are in the process of changing the lights on the catwalks to ALL white lights. Please remove any colored lights that you would like to keep. Thank you.

From the Fining Committee:

The Fining Committee reviewed all units for any improvements / repairs needed on the front doors, molding & screens. According to our condominium documents the upkeep of the front doors are the responsibility of the owners. There were 363 warning letters that have been sent out to owners that need to address the issue with their front door. The next Fining Committee project will be to examine the back of the building units for any improvements / repairs needed.

Garden Club:

Though our landscaping budget is minimal now, I felt that those funds could go much farther in bringing about improvements if we did not have to rely on outside labor. I am pleased to announce that a team of at least a dozen owners have joined our emerging “Garden Club”. If you are interested in joining, let the office know and they will forward your information to me. We will be working on our front entry area soon, with lots of pruning (those monster Bromeliads need attention) and planting around our entry drive and adjacent areas, including new low growing foliage around our Royal Park monument sign.

We have already purchased 3 pallets of cypress mulch to spread around the garden beds at the bench along the entry walkway and around the Bromeliads once trimmed. One of many projects we have slated is to “spruce” up a bit and keep our grounds on the “up-swing” for the pleasure of us all.

Maintenance:

The maintenance crew has reported that there are residents throwing their garbage down the shoots and not tying off the bags, therefore the garbage falls all over the place. People are also throwing furniture or appliances into the garbage dumpsters. Please do not do this, if you must, bring your old furniture to the bulk trash area or call Faith Farm or the Veterans.

Recycle: DO NOT throw your recycling items in the blue bins with plastic bags. No plastic bags should contain cans, etc. There are new instructions on each blue bin lid letting you know what is recyclable and what is not. Please abide by the rules.

Social Club:

When I was running for the Board of Directors, my main goal was to keep the lines of communication open between the Board and the property owners. So, I hope you appreciate this newsletter as this is one of the ways to keep you all in the loop with what is happening at Royal Park Condominiums. There are two huge events that I am planning for next month. The first event is “clean out your closet” scheduled for Saturday, May15th. If it rains, then we will reschedule it for Saturday, May 22nd. The garage sale will take place between the hours of 8:00 to 3:00. If you would like a table and chair outside or inside, the fee is $5.00. Lunch will be provided, hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, and a soda for a minimal charge. Because the Social Club is not sanctioned by Royal Park, any proceeds that we earn stay within the social club for future events.

The second event I am planning is a Memorial Day picnic. I want to do a Memorial Day Ceremony at the big picnic area near the maintenance building. PLEASE!!! If there are any Veterans, please email me at: [email protected] I want to acknowledge all our male & female veterans that day. After the ceremony, we will offer hotdogs, hamburgers, chips & soda for $5.00 per person.

When we held our meet & greet the candidates, I emphasized that we need to meet our neighbors. It is extremely important that we get to know each other. I am so lucky that I have great neighbors around me so if I need anything, they are there for me and vice versa.

Due to the cost of mailing, I will not be mailing the newsletter to you, we will have a small amount of newsletters available in the office for those who do not have a computer. I have updated the mailing list for each building near the mailboxes. They were so out of date, but if you notice any inaccuracies, please let Adrian know in the office so we can correct it.

All gentlemen: would you be interested in resurrecting the men’s club again?? It was such a great way for neighbors to meet each other while planning events. Let me know….

All ladies: what do you think about: a lady’s club, or a yoga class, painting class, dance class, mahjongg class? Let me know…

All ladies & gentlemen: How about paint stick bingo?? This is so much fun. It’s so easy to play, and a way for everyone to come together. I will accept any suggestions.

We need to become an active community like it was years ago. I understand that there are two working individuals per household, but hopefully we can come up with some ideas to come together. I have planned a Social Club Meeting in the clubhouse on Thursday, April 29th at 7:00 pm. Anyone and everyone are welcome to come and brainstorm. I look forward to seeing you there. Most Importantly: It is imperative that CDC Guidelines still need to be enforced at All Social Club Events including masks, social distancing and crowd size.
